About DurgapurDurgapur, better known as the steel city of West Bengal, is situated in the district of Burdwan. As the name suggests, Durgapur is home to several steel producing companies as well as power plants and other engineering and chemical factories. It is one of the few planned cities in India, the credit of which goes to architects Benjamin Polk and Allen Stein.

About 187 kms from Kolkata and 250 kms from Ranchi, Durgapur is fast emerging as one of the most developed cities in West Bengal. The city has a good connectivity, with good roads like the GT road (NH2) running through it. It is well connected with the Indian Railways which helps you to reach almost all major cities or junctions in the country. Frequent bus services to almost all parts of West Bengal gives easy access for people visiting the city for work or vacation. There are long distance private buses like Volvo and there are Government buses too, which take you easily to Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, and to other parts of the state.
