They also conduct donation camps to contribute woolen clothes to the poor and the needy or to the people from areas affected with natural calamities.
Durgapur Blind Relief SocietyThis organization takes part in seminars and rallies, and through hoardings and captions on television, they try to create awareness on the importance of eye care, in order to prevent blindness. For this reason they also conduct eye check-up for free, for the poor people in the rural areas and in the slums. DSP Steel Township Unit:This unit was founded in the year 1996 and it is located near Asish Market.
It has a total of 122 students, out of which 35 Students have cerebral pulsy,12 students are deaf & dumb and rest are mentally retarded.
This organization works for the deaf, dumb and cerebral palsy students, as well as the mentally retarded children. Other than imparting education, they also provide vocational training in making bags and candles.
Some of the other social organizations that work selflessly for the betterment of the society by helping the ones in need, are ‘Bharat Sevashram Sanhga’, Consumers Redressal Forum, ‘Relief’, ‘Sahas’, Senior Citizen Welfare Committee, Durgapur Society for Education and Training of Unemployed etc. Some of these organizations work towards imparting physical fitness through yoga and physiotherapy, while others work towards eradication of social evils like illiteracy, unemployment, etc.
